Cloth Diapering

So I am really researching all about cloth diapering, I really want to do it. I just need to order them. There are sooooo many different kinds of them that I can't make a desicion on which one I want! Im thinking either Gdiapers or Bumgenius. Right now we are using Seventh Generation chlorine free diapers, but not only are disposables expensive in the long run, they run out so freakin fast!!! So I am excited to start my cloth diapering journey and will update on how I like 'em once I make a desicion and order already. I can't wait to take pictures of Alexis in her little cloth diapers!

Amish White Bread

I found this recipe for Amish White Bread. I have yet to try it, I am going to try tonight if I have time but it looks and sounds DELICIOUS, I am so excited. I love making my own bread, so much tastier and better texture than store bought.

2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2/3 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
6 cups bread flour

Directions:

In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, and then stir in yeast. Allow to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam.
Mix salt and oil into the yeast. Mix in flour one cup at a time. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Place in a well oiled bowl, and turn dough to coat. Cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
Punch dough down. Knead for a few minutes, and divide in half. Shape into loaves, and place into two well oiled 9x5 inch loaf pans. Allow to rise for 30 minutes, or until dough has risen 1 inch above pans.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes.

Birthday Cake Disaster

My first attempt at making a train cake for my son's 4th birthday was a long and frusterating process! It is pretty small, we also made cupcakes, but geez cakes aren't as easy as they look! Next time I will prepare much farther in advance. Although, it did turn out ok, it could have been better! I am a little bit of a perfectionist.
Here is my friend Tessa helping cut Everett his piece.

My Family

This is my son, Everett Jeffrey. He was born 4 years ago on May 11, 2006. I felt so lucky to be his mom and fell in love with him the moment I saw him. I wanted to do everything I could to raise him the best way I could!
This picture is from his 4th Birthday party yesterday. Him and all the other children had so much fun painting their little wooden trains, I think it was thier favorite part of the whole party, besides of course, the cake! Everett LOVES trains, particularly Thomas the tank engine.

Then came Alexis Victoria, Born February 15, 2010. I was so happy to have a girl! She has an older brother who can watch over her, and I absolutely LOVE baby girl shopping. I cannot wait until she gets older so she can start playing with dolls, it'll be so much fun toy shopping! She is such a sweet little baby, she loves to smile at everyone. She loves to be in her sling I wear while I do house work, or anything.
