I did it!

So I did it, I'm officially a brunette! I LOVE it! I don't miss being blonde at all...yet, anyway.

and more great news, I have a great job at a salon that I love! I have the cutest hot pink business cards and I went with the Verocolor color line and I love it. I also have a room at another salon where I will be doing waxing and facials and occasional cut and color. I absolutely love being a stylist, it is so much fun to make people feel good about themselves.

On another note, my 4 year old desperately needs preschool. I am searching and all the good schools have a 2 or 3 year waiting list, so at least I know to enroll Lexi now so I won't have this problem. I did find a catholic preschool and a Waldorf based preschool that have openings. However, I am disapointed that all the Montessori schools have no openings! So next week is school searching time and hopefully we will find one we love! By the way, is it wrong that I hope the catholic preschool has uniform because there is nothing cuter than a preschooler in a school uniform!!! My boyfriend doesn't agree. haha.

Lexi is doing great still with her cloth diapers. I do, however, need to buy more. I want to experiment with other kind so I am going to do research on that today as well. Off I go for a day full of errands!

I am so tempted to change my hair!! But I am also scared because it is at the perfect color blonde right now, I know I wont get it back for a long time if I change it dark. (I've done this before :/ ) Well I will update with pictures soon if I decide to go dark!! I want like a chocolate color with blonde streaks maybe....we will see!

On another note... Baby girl is 6 months old!!

Licensed!!!

I am so happy! We recently returned home from Fairfield and I have come back with my cosmetology license, yay! I am so glad I passed my State Boards, I was seriously scared and so nervous. I mean, I graduated school like 8 months ago or more so I kinda lost the steps. But I did it! Not only that but I already got hired at a great salon and I start renting on the 1st of August. The only issue is I forgot how expensive it was gonna be to start my job.

Color line- 349.00

Oil lightner line-109.00
Bleach-30.00
Straightener- 50.00-130.00

Hairdryer-50.00

Towels-50.00

And endless Misc. items like brushes, combs, pins, capes etc. etc. *sigh* I hope I get a lot of clients soon!!

however, I am excited regardless. I have been dreaming of this since I was 14.

Hopefully I get somewhere with this. :)

Me in Fredrick and Charles Beauty College! O Geez... I was there forever, fun times though!

Cloth Diaperin' and lovin' it!

So we have been cloth diapering for 2 or 3 weeks now? Anyways, I loooove it! Its way cute and I feel like I am giving back to the earth by not filling up the landfills with tons of 'sposi's. I think everyone should do it, its so easy and wierdly enough so addicting to shop for. So far my small stash includes a few Fuzzibunz and Thirsties covers with unbleached chinese prefolds. I want to try em all, I have a feeling we are gonna be spending lotsa money on cloths this year...

Too many Diet Pills..really? and Yay for Farmers Market!

So I just got a call from my best friend, who tells me that she hears a friend of mine is spreading rumors about how I am addicted to diet pills and that is how I lost my baby weight. Now, anyone that knows me, knows that I will struggle through a migraine until I absolutely can NOT handle it until I take a tylenol. Same with period cramps....I dont know. I just hate medicine. Not that diet pills are bad, I just don't take medicine unless I really have to. Rumors are so stupid. That being said, I do live in a small town...and well. Thats all to do around here is spread rumors or listen to gossip.

Anyways.... on a better note today was Famers Market in Arcata and it was really fun, there were jugglers, balloon animal maker people, all kinds of vegetables, honey, homespun yarn, herbs, eggs, everything! It was so much fun, but now it is raining. (Oh Humboldt weather, gotta love it) So movies tonight, it is. <3

Cloth Diapering

So I am really researching all about cloth diapering, I really want to do it. I just need to order them. There are sooooo many different kinds of them that I can't make a desicion on which one I want! Im thinking either Gdiapers or Bumgenius. Right now we are using Seventh Generation chlorine free diapers, but not only are disposables expensive in the long run, they run out so freakin fast!!! So I am excited to start my cloth diapering journey and will update on how I like 'em once I make a desicion and order already. I can't wait to take pictures of Alexis in her little cloth diapers!

Amish White Bread

I found this recipe for Amish White Bread. I have yet to try it, I am going to try tonight if I have time but it looks and sounds DELICIOUS, I am so excited. I love making my own bread, so much tastier and better texture than store bought.

2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2/3 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
6 cups bread flour

Directions:

In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, and then stir in yeast. Allow to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam.
Mix salt and oil into the yeast. Mix in flour one cup at a time. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Place in a well oiled bowl, and turn dough to coat. Cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
Punch dough down. Knead for a few minutes, and divide in half. Shape into loaves, and place into two well oiled 9x5 inch loaf pans. Allow to rise for 30 minutes, or until dough has risen 1 inch above pans.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes.

Birthday Cake Disaster

My first attempt at making a train cake for my son's 4th birthday was a long and frusterating process! It is pretty small, we also made cupcakes, but geez cakes aren't as easy as they look! Next time I will prepare much farther in advance. Although, it did turn out ok, it could have been better! I am a little bit of a perfectionist.
Here is my friend Tessa helping cut Everett his piece.

My Family

This is my son, Everett Jeffrey. He was born 4 years ago on May 11, 2006. I felt so lucky to be his mom and fell in love with him the moment I saw him. I wanted to do everything I could to raise him the best way I could!
This picture is from his 4th Birthday party yesterday. Him and all the other children had so much fun painting their little wooden trains, I think it was thier favorite part of the whole party, besides of course, the cake! Everett LOVES trains, particularly Thomas the tank engine.

Then came Alexis Victoria, Born February 15, 2010. I was so happy to have a girl! She has an older brother who can watch over her, and I absolutely LOVE baby girl shopping. I cannot wait until she gets older so she can start playing with dolls, it'll be so much fun toy shopping! She is such a sweet little baby, she loves to smile at everyone. She loves to be in her sling I wear while I do house work, or anything.
